The global crab market has moved from concern over supply availability to the more difficult question of demand. Strong Canadian snow crab shipments have substantially improved U.S. availability, while recovering Alaska resources and increased availability of Santolla from Argentina and Chile have changed the supply outlook. Norway remains constrained by its sharply reduced red king crab quota, while sanctions continue to exclude Russian crab from the U.S. market. According to SUBPESCA, accumulated harvest volumes from January to June were 7.85% higher year-to-date *YTD) at 376,385 metric tons (mt) (Figure 1). Sheng Long Aqua Technology (M) Sdn. Bhd., a subsidiary of Guangdong Haid Group Co. of China, has held a ground-breaking ceremony for its first aquaculture feed manufacturing facility in Malaysia.
