Breakthrough for Seaweed Farming in the Baltic Sea, Full Life Cycle of Gutweed Farmed Successfully

Researchers at the University of Gothenburg have successfully cultivated the seaweed through its entire life cycle in brackish water.
Macroalgae like Ulva intestinal, commonly known as ‘gutweed,’ can be used as human food (supplements containing gutweed are already on the market), along with many other uses. The breakthrough was to propagate a small amount completely through its life cycle, not an easy prospect with most other macroalgae.
